Curly Girl Method 1.5 months / My Journey So Far
Well it's been not far off 2 months now and there's been definite signs of progress since my last post, yay! There's still battles with the frizz but there's also ringlets! |
1 month of progress in photos The first photos I believe were just washing with a non CG approved conditioner and using Cantu curl creme before I invested in the Faith in Nature conditioner for co-washing, Inahsi coconut avocado curl defining custard gel, and their hemp deep conditioner. I've also used Olaplex no.3 a couple of times in the last few weeks. I've done a few rice water rinses as well. Oh and I discovered Garnier's hair food in banana, the most amazing smelling thing ever! Here's a little comparison of the back of my hair today (not the most tidy of wash days but not the worst I guess) vs a very early wash day in November... top November 2020 below January 2021 If one thing's noticeable it does look in better condition and there's definitely more 'curl clumps' going on and lift at the roots Today's routine was a quick Elasticizer treatment for a couple of hours on damp hair/the lengths, a shampoo with a semi CG approved OGX shampoo (hadn't used an actual shampoo in weeks so thought it may need it), a condition with Garnier hair food for 5 mins, a rice water rinse, deep conditioner, then curl creme and gel scrunched in before plopping in a t-shirt for 15 ish mins and allowing to air dry. I also applied a little more of the banana garnier stuff on the lengths as it just smells too good it's addictive! I've not used box dyes for my red in aaaages. Must be over a year, just professional products. No heat styling, just my hairdryer on a cold setting to try diffuse the odd time, but I've not had the greatest success with that so all these images are from air dried hair. Actual ringlets! One thing I've noticed is my second day hair, with a refresh with a spray, has sometimes lead to more successful curls than the actual wash day the day before. My spray is basically 80/90% water with some of my styling products added in, like the curl creme and gel. If I want curls the second day, I pretty much have to spray it, as my hair isn't holding them great at the minute after sleep. Even just throughout the day of washing they drop. This was a refresh for example, I thought it turned out pretty well and had nice texture. So, that's what where I'm at at the mo! To be honest it may need a cut as it's been a good few months when I gave it a little trim myself but I'm so desperately trying to grow it! I'm undecided... |
Watch this space for another update in a month or so!
