Disneyland Paris in the times of Covid-19

When we rescheduled our May trip to Paris for later in the year in the hope that things would be easier,  we may have been a little too optimistic.... having said that, I wouldn't have had it any other way as our anniversary trip to Paris was just wonderful.

As we ended up going the week of our anniversary, we needed something particularly special for the day of our anniversary itself, sooo we booked our first trip to Disneyland Paris! I think the park had only just announced its re-opening when we booked, and over the last few months I'd seen a few youtube videos on how things are working over there at the minute.

I wasn't so keen on the idea of having to wear a mask during the whole visit but completely understood the reasoning, and having to barely queue for rides at a Disneyland park seemed amazing.  It felt like a pretty unique opportunity to experience a park so quiet, unlikely to ever happen again, and I was so excited!

I'd planned my outfit with some custom DIY Disney accessories which I've blogged about previously, and went for a lightweight harlequin print dress.  I didn't really get to wear the pink cardigan that was going to be part of it as it was SO hot.  The whole week in France was boiling and I was thankful for such lovely weather for Disney.

Annoyingly, a few weeks before we were due to go, they announced that the park would have new closing hours...6pm. Gutted!  Given we were only going there for one day, and having booked tickets for both parks, we really could have done with the usual full opening hours.  We'd also booked dinner at Bistrot Chez Remy for 5:15pm so I was worried we wouldn't be able to do that anymore.  We received no cancellation email so I just hoped it would go ahead...

We woke up early to get there for when it opened to make the most of the day, ended up getting there a little before the opening time of 10am and they were already letting people in.

There was a great atmosphere when we entered, it didn't feel lacking in that at all or even overly quiet.

Although we were too early for their Hallowe'en styling, I was happy to see that they *had* started with it though, with lots of pumpkins dotted down Main Street and some other Hallowe'en esque bits around the park.

As we were limited on time we did feel a little rushed, which resulted in some running about between attractions, but we did get most of what we wanted to see/do done.

We were so relieved that our reservation at Remy's restaurant still stood too!  Plus having a later booking, tied in with the parks earlier closing time, actually worked well for us in that it made for quite a memorable end of our day.  It was gone half 6 when we left the restaurant (we'd treated ourselves to a bottle of wine to go with our meal) so we were the last ones there but didn't feel like they were trying to get us to leave at all.  It did however mean a member of staff had to escort us out the park to make sure we left okay with it all being closed!  As they walked ahead we managed to get a couple of clips/photos of us in a completely empty Disney park,  I imagine we're one of a very rare few to get to experience it quite like that.  We just wished we could have snuck around there a little longer!
It may be one of the smaller Disney parks but it really didn't disappoint, we had such an amazing day and I'd definitely return.  I don't think we could have asked for a better two year anniversary <3
