Collectif Haul / Summer Sale

So Collectif had their big summer 50% off sale at the start of the week, and I succumbed... One thing I ordered wasn't included in the sale, the pink harlequin dress, due to it being a collaborative item with Top Vintage.

Also got this little bamboo handled handbag that I'm thinking of customising and cacti necklace.

Collectif has always been one of those brands I go back to, having been the first 'repro' clothing brand I really discovered when I started to get into vintage around ten years ago.  I even got to work with them a few years back when I created some artwork for a cardigan they sold.

So I still find it hard to resist when they have their big sales on, and this year I did have a fair few items in my wishlist that I thought I'd give a go if they're in stock come the sale. Fortunately (or unfortunately for my purse), most of them were. I missed out on a Top Vintage stop in a lipstick and heels print that I fancied, a cream polka dot dress, and the tania tiki style handbag with a cool bamboo clasp, but that last one did at least give me the idea to add some artwork on to one of my own bags.

Here's what I went for!

This is cute, happy with it. I thought I'd heard that they'd ditched the elastic in the sleeves of Dolores tops due to so many people finding it uncomfortable and having been taking it upon themselves to cut it out, but apparently not...shall see how I get on with it I guess. I like the print though, just not 100% how many things I have that I could wear it with besides jeans due to the colours.

I decided to choose between this and the cactus similar buttoned dress, turns out they were more different than I realised. This one has no other fastening bar the buttons, which are quite snug in the button holes so a bit of a faff to take on and off. The cactus one however has a side zip and the buttons down the front are actually purely there for show. I feel that the colour of the buttons don't go with this dress either, whereas they work well with the cactus dress due to there being red in the design.
This is a thicker heavier fabric than the cactus strappy dress, and I don't like how it sits at the waist. Even though I bought it in the same size as the other dress, it was much tighter on the bust. Teamed with the shape at the waist I felt 'boxier' in it.
I do really like the tones in the blues though so it's a shame I felt it had too many things going on that I didn't quite like.

This is cute, goes nicely with the cactus dress I bought and I do like bags with bamboo handles.

This was disappointing. I really liked it when I put it, despite it feeling rather big (oh Collectif and your sizing...) but then I noticed you could see my bra through it. Tried another one, could see the pattern, tried a third... yeah this thing's just too see through. I feel like you'd need a t-shirt or vest underneath or a totally smooth skin coloured bra which I don't have and don't have the need for otherwise so...
Also it was so strangely baggy under the arms, I felt like it was designed with a bat in mind or something.
Shame as I didn't actually really like the colour and design otherwise.

I just wasn't getting all that much of a vintage vibe from this really, and wasn't too keen on the fit. Bunched up in some areas and I really 'felt' the collar area like it may get annoying! As it was one of the pricier pieces, I decided if I didn't love it it'd be going back.

£55.00 £27.50

Ooh I like this one. Lovely colour and I feel like it compliments my own colouring well. More lightweight/thin than I imagined from the photos but still nice and I guess makes it better for hot days in Summer.

£49.95

Ahhh I feel like some sort of '60s Barbie in this dress...despite not being a Barbie fan (I was more of a Batman and TMNT kinda girl) but you know what I mean.  This wasn't in the sale but I decided to treat myself as it's super cute.
I love dresses that give you straps that you can wear different ways too! These would need swapping round front-back to do the criss cross as the plastic for adjusting the length is visible at the front but I just swapped the front sides round for the sake of a quick try on.
I really like the pink but how it's toned down with the harlequin pattern. It's a shame a belt didn't come with it but a thin white one works nicely!

Lightweight thin material, ideal for summer. Much more flattering fit than the Jemima palm dress I bought and I told my other half I was going to keep just one of the two so let me know which he prefers when I was trying them. I 'd decided straight away and he said he preferred this one straight away too. Oh and it has pockets! I do like a cactus print. Another lightweight cactus dress I have from Collectif is one of my favourite day dresses I have and I've been tempted to buy a second incase it starts wearing out!

It's a fiver!

Keeping the Kimberly Cactus dress on for the day (how hot is it oh my days melting!!) since it's nice and cool, teamed with some Splendette bangles...

Had to spare the time to take a few photos in my other favourite though, the pink harlequin, teamed with some shades I bought recently from eBay, earrings by Luxulite and shoes by Pin Up Couture.
